Wellington National Golf Club's Annual Men's Member/Member Golf Tournament Successful for Second Year

Wellington, Fla. - Jan. 26, 2018 - Wellington National Golf Club was pleased to host 50 players for its 2nd Annual Men's Member/Member Golf Tournament, held January 20 - 21, 2018, with 25 teams swinging for the top spot. Wellington National created the tournament to provide members with top-notch golf matches and entertainment. The tournament was very successful for the second year in a row after a weekend of great golf and camaraderie.

"We enjoy hosting these tournaments at the club as a way for the members to get to know each other, and a little friendly competition always adds to the fun," said Ted Strelec, PGA General Manager and Director of Golf at Wellington National. "For a lot of our members who play individually during the week and have been honing their skills, this is a nice way to bring the competition to them, so they can play in a tournament without traveling far from home."

Ultimately, teammates Josh Della-Pietra and Mark Muller proved victorious over their counterparts, achieving the lowest score to claim the tournament champion title. Alex Gilmurray had a personally successful day by sinking a hole-in-one on Hole 13, easily earning him the Closest to the Pin title.

Gilmurray's accomplishment will be proudly displayed along with other golfers to have achieved the honor on a beautiful wooden plaque outside of the Golf Pro Shop. Founding member Sandy Hearns was the first name to make the list after scoring a hole-in-one on December 1, 2016 on Hole 16. Since then, only Bob Dwyer, Tony Siriani, and now Gilmurray, have joined her. Hearns was the sole name on the plaque for quite some time, but Dwyer, Siriani and Gilmurray impressively each shot their hole-in-one within the past six weeks.

After another successful tournament, club members can rest assured that they will have the opportunity to sign up for more golf action in the coming months.
