Wellington National Kicks Off Opening Weekend in Style

Wellington, Fla. - August 26, 2016 - Wellington National Golf Club had a successful opening weekend of their renovated world-class facility. From members enjoying the 18-hole championship-caliber golf course to the exquisite catering and atmosphere of the membership appreciation party, the launch of the country club left members thrilled.

On August 11, Doug Marty, a Wellington National partner, hit off the ceremonial first tee of the golf course, and 36 members enjoyed playing and jetting around on the new electric golf carts.

"The turnout was better than we expected on a Thursday opening event; our members were very excited to get out on the rejuvenated course!" Marty explained. "Every aspect of this course is now in great shape! Andy Apple, our agronomist, has done an absolutely outstanding job with his staff. He has done a remarkable job with what we had to work with, and we are ahead of schedule."

Wellington National's team, from the beginning, has been focused on providing the highest quality golf course in Palm Beach, as well as a comfortable and updated social scene for the entire family. The prestigious golf course sprawls across more than 250 acres and was originally designed by Hall of Fame golfer Johnny Miller. Renovations of the course include re-sodding with face grass, laser leveled tee boxes and adding stunning new sand to the bunkers.

"The course is fairly difficult," Marty explained. "The fairways are gorgeous, narrow with plenty of natural shade. The greens are fast and rolling with about a 10 on the stimp meter with lots of undulation and different elevations on the greens. It's a challenging course, which is what most golfers enjoy."

On Saturday, August 13, Wellington National hosted its first member appreciation party to launch the opening of the country club. Hundreds of members attended the bash with live music by Tom Blake, a founding member, and they enjoyed delectable hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Members could explore the golf course and clubhouse facilities to see the progress of the renovations for the pool deck, patio, wine bar and ballroom.

Brett Carman, the head golf professional of Wellington National, was thrilled with the members enthusiasm to play on the renewed course while enjoying everything Wellington National has to offer.

"Members today for the first time got a chance to see the vision of the new owners," Carman said. "Everyone is pleased with the progress of the facility and we were excited for the kick off. I can't believe what they have been able to do with the golf course and facility in the past six weeks. Everybody has been chomping at the bit to come play and socialize."
